2Wire 270X Firmware Update
for Windows and Macintosh
To perform a successful modem upgrade, it is critical that these instructions be followed closely. Please wait until the upgrade is completed and you have reconnected to the internet to close the window.
Please note:
- You must be connected DIRECTLY to the modem with an Ethernet cable!
- Do NOT use wireless, USB, or be connected through another piece of equipment such as a hub, switch or router.
- Turn off any firewall programs before performing this procedure. Be sure to turn these back on when the recovery process is complete.
Download the upgrade file:
Step 1
Start the download by ( cut and paste into browser address ) to download file below.

Step 2 Click Save
Step 3
Save this file to your Desktop.
Upgrading the Firmware:
Step 1
Go to the
2Wire Software Upgrade page http://192.168.0.1/upgrade.
Step 2
Click Continue.
Step 3
Select Browse.
Step 4
Select Open.
Step 5
Select Upgrade Now.
Step 6
This screen shows the status of the upgrade, no action is required.
Step 7
Type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar and press Enter. You will see the following page.
You will now need to reprogram the modem with custom settings.
(e.g. PPP credentials, static IP entries, wireless settings, etc)
The MDC is not required to flash the modem.

I just flash the bell 2wire with Qwest lastest firmware (google it). It's way better than Singtel one. And it now has Qos setting and wireless connection/speed are much stable.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the point in unlocking ? What will I gain, faster connection, I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteI believe unlocking will allow you to use the modem with dsl providers other than Bell.
